This week our prayers need to focus on our community. When asked, Jesus said that our love for God was the most important commandment... but the second most important was to love thy neighbor as thyself. This week we want to discover why this love for one another is so important to God... and how we can better abide by this commandment.

Bible Scripture: John 15:12 KJV - This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Faith ApplicationCommit to praying every day this week and fasting one day a week. Pray when you want. Remember, you may not pray an hour a day but don't let an hour go by without communicating with God. On your fast day, fast whatever you feel, but let it be a sacrifice; let it be from the heart. Fast something that has become an idol in your life and takes up your time and your energy in place of moments with God. This week, as you fast, pray that God gives you a heart for reaching the lost, and spreading God's love.

Prayer Focus: Dear Lord, this week I want to be more loving to and considerate of those around me. I want to take notice of those who are hungry for your love. Put me in the path of someone who desperately needs a touch from You. Maybe they don't know where to look or how to call out to you, but give me the words and actions to minister to their heart. God, let me be a force in my community. Let me be a force for spreading the gospel and help me to be mindful of the needs of those around me.

Family Activity: Before you begin the attached activity, adults, you may want to read through this article to better understand what it truly means to "love thy neighbor" as God intended. While you're doing that, there's a video below to help your children understand this concept fully. Then, together as a family, complete the worksheet attached below. Make sure everyone contributes and ACTS on what they learn!
